Layers… Last weekend I had the joy of working Layers…
Last weekend I had the joy of working with the gorgeous Lizzie and Ben for the third time (swipe to see pics of all of them).
Their Christmas wedding in 2016 was a delight to be part of (in the first photo I’m laughing with them about something that happened as they walked down the aisle to all their guests singing a carol). Ben’s 9 year old daughter proudly did a reading at the ceremony.
Then, in May 2018, I conducted a happy naming ceremony for their son – children ran around, the sun was hot and the sky was blue as they layered sand to represent the family and the godparents. And Ben’s daughter read not one but two poems to her baby brother!
And then this year, I was honoured to be asked back again to do their newest daughter’s naming, and she was resplendent in an outfit her Nanny had made for her from her mum’s wedding dress! Sand was poured again so that they both have a jar of colours reminding them how much they are loved. This time it was the son’s turn to read (he’s now 5) and he nailed it!
It's always such an amazing thing to be asked back by a family to be a part of another milestone celebration. And to top it off, this time, Ben grabbed the mic at the end and said a few words about how much it means to them that I give them the words to mark their occasions – and then gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers.
I might have been a bit totes emosh on the way home…! 🥹🥰

Thank you so much for your capable hands and calm-voiced guidance. Thank you for allowing me to interfere and for bearing my meddling with such grace. You gave everyone the essence of N with warmth and affection.
We were so impressed with your handling of us all during the event. You have a serenity which helped settle all our nerves, giving us speakers the strength to keep going through the wobbles.
The service did exactly what we hoped it would do - it celebrated N and we sense her approval, somewhere nearby.]

A super smiley E and D just after their love-fille A super smiley E and D just after their love-filled wedding at Kimbridge Barn.
Their boys walked proudly down the aisle along with their young niece who was a nervous yet fabulous flower girl.
And E’s brother did a fantastic job of reading Louise Cuddon’s ‘I’ll Be There’ (it’s the first poem on my ‘wedding readings’ highlight above, if you want to hear it…)
Congratulations you two 💛💚
It was great to work with the very lovely @tobyhpphotography for the first time too 📸
